"Imoochi-Itahyamun" is a 36X46 inch, highly textured mixed media acrylic painting. The painting features glitter, acrylic paint (thickened with molding paste), sequins, and multiple sizes/shapes of glass beeds.

This painting was planned during Back to Batoche 2024, and I sketched out my design during the festival. It took from August of 2024 to February of 2025 to complete, with all of the beadwork hand stitched directly into the canvas.  The piece is inspired by a fictionalized, imaginative version of the prairies, with pink skies and pink lillies. I enjoyed playing a lot with pattern to pay homage to beadwork and textile traditions of Metis people, and also paying homage to queer culture through glitter and use of dreamy, vapourwave inspired colour.

This painting does feature some colours that will fade eventually due to UV exposure, but these colours are strategically layered over similar, more lightfast hues which will prevent the overall composition and mood from changing too dramatically. This painting is on a thin, studio wrapped gallery canvas and has 2 d rings installed on the back as a hanging option. I do recommend framing this piece as thinner stretchers can be prone to some warping without additional support, over time and depending on environmental conditions.
